DEATH ROW

Nearly all of Louisiana's 57 inmates on death row submitted clemency applications. Only two Louisiana governors have granted clemency requests in the past 50 years. But this grim statistic hasn’t deterred death row attorney Cecelia Kappel or anti-death penalty advocate Sister Helen Prejean. Both women stand at the forefront of anti-death penalty advocacy in hopes that this recent influx in requests will force Louisiana to reexamine the state’s justice system.
